More Training For The Deuce - Jun 25, 2009

On Thursday June 25, 2009 the crews of E42 and 42-1 trained at the DCESTC. A/C's Guerra and McBreen and Safety Officer Kilroy conducted a three station evolution on ground ladder work consisting of one, two, and three man deployment of extension ladders and roof ladder operations. Ventilation, tool selection, window access and egress, and Vent Enter Search tactics were covered. The veteran members worked well with the newer/younger members and everyone came out with new and/or refreshed knowledge!

Live Burn Training - Jun 14, 2009

On June 14 2009 Rescue 42 was invited to the DCESTC Burn Building to conduct a live fire drill with companies 04 (Darby Fire co 1) and 19 (Lansdowne Fire co).   Crews worked together on several different types of evolutions including Force entry in to a building, Basement fires, Search and rescue, Standpipe hook ups, and more. All companies worked well together and made it a fun day for everyone; Company 42 would like to thank company 04 for inviting us to this event. Member from 42  that attended were, Asst. Chief Rich Guerra, Brian Traband, Frank Benson, Paul Naylis, George Blong, and Anthony Pisani who came down to work the Air Bank.

Collingdale Fire Co. #2 Name Up In Lights - May 26, 2009

At the urging of life member Joe Phillips the Collingdale Fire Co. #2 rejoined the Collingdale Business and Professional Association. Collingdale #2 was an original member of the association but due to a misunderstanding was dropped from it's roles. We are happy to be back among Collingdale's elite business community.

Collingdale Borough Council Meeting - May 12, 2009

During the Collingdale Borough Council Meeting on April 6, 2009 Collingdale Fire Co. #2 as well as Collingdale Fire Co. #1 and individual EMS members were presented with recognition awards by Reverend Perry Messick for responding to a CO call at The First Baptist Church in the fall of 2008. Seen accepting the award for Collingdale #2 are Chris Miller, Mike Moors, and Joe Tesauro all of whom were present at the CO call.

Collingdale Fire Co. #1 & 2 Easter Flower Sale - Apr 15, 2009

From 8:00am Friday morning till 2:00pm Sunday Afternoon, both Collingdale #1 and Collingdale #2 fought against the rain, wind and cold weather in order to continue our year fundraiser. Both companies had numerous members volunteer an enormous amount of time out of thier weekend to run both day and overnight shifts. Both comapnies had a great time and everyone looks forward to next year. The Presidents of both companies send their thanks to everyone who braved the weather to help out, and to our customers and area residents for their support.

Airbank Assist To East Lansdowne - Apr 12, 2009

At about 1:12AM Company 42 was dispatched to assist Company 24 (East Lansdowne) on the 100 Block of Lexington Ave. for the airbank. As Recue 42 arrrived, under the command of Chief 42A, the crew assisted with overhaul and cleanup as Chief Engineer Pulcher stayed back to fill cylinders.

 



Building Fire - Apr 11, 2009

At 4:23AM, Companies 04 (Darby #1), 21 (Darby #2), 42 (Collingdale #2) & 06 (Collingdale #1) were dispatched to  S. 2nd Street & Francis Street for a building fire with entrapment. Rescue 42, under the command of Chief 42A, responded immediately after Engine 04-2, under the command of 04-13B (Traband). Engine 04-2 arrived first to find a two story single family dwelling with the front porch well involved with fire. Engine 04-2 went in service with an inch and three quarter handline and began fire suppression as well as a primary search. As Rescue 42 went on location, crews assisted 04-2. The search came up negative, as the homeowner made it out before our arrival. Companies remained on scene for about 30 minutes.

Airbank Assist To Yeadon - Apr 10, 2009

At 10:15AM, Company 42 was dispatched to assist Company 16 (Yeadon) on the 800 block of Arbor Road with the airbank. Rescue 42 responded under reduce speed and remained on location until all cylinders were filled.
